Organize Your Entire House in 30 Days or Less!

Now that the holidays are over, I have an intense desire to de-clutter and organize my entire house from top to bottom.

It seems there is “stuff” crammed in every nook and cranny in our house.

However, as a mom it seems that I spend all of my time keeping up with the daily to-dos like cleaning, leaving little time for getting rid of stuff or organizing.

So, I decided a little challenge was in order.

I am going to de-clutter and re-organize my entire house in 30 days. A little bit at a time. If you’re up for the challenge, I would love for you to join me! Here’s how it works!

You will de-clutter (throw away junk you don’t need or want) and organize one room at a time.

The challenge gives several days for some rooms that may take more time. For example, you will have one day to de-clutter and organize all of the drawers in your kitchen, one day for the refrigerator, one day for the cabinets, one day for the pantry and so on.

The best part is, you get to choose which task to do each day, depending on how much time you have!

Clutter is the main culprit that keeps my house from staying organized!

I have organized my kids’ toys into bins several times and they always end up in a mess. Why? Because there are too many of them! If I regularly go though items in our house and get rid of (donate or throw away) what we don’t use, it is much easier to keep organized!

The reason behind this is that in order to stay organized, every item needs a designated spot.

What happens if each item in your house does not have a designated spot? It gets thrown in some random place, creating MORE CLUTTER!

As you go through each room, I want you to ask yourself 4 questions about each item.

  1. Have I used this item in the last 6 months?
  2. Do I need this item?
  3. Do I have something that could be used in place of this item?
  4. Does this item have sentimental value?

By analyzing the need for each item, you are sure to cut down on unnecessary items around your house.

Once you have de-cluttered that room, you then have much more space to organize the things you are going to keep.

Remember to have a designated spot for each item you are keeping. It really helps to use decorative baskets, furniture that can be used as storage, key holders, and storage bins around the house.

Once you have spent the time getting your house in order, it will be much easier to keep it clean! Of course this results in a less stressed, more relaxed and happy mama! Enjoy!
